Before The Women's Right Movement
Women around the world in the 1920's were considered to be inferior to men. They were known as a man's property. Women were not considered a "person", they could not hold jobs, and most importantly not allowed the right to vote. Also, a woman did not have any property rights and once she was married, she no longer was allowed to own land and could not keep money she earned for herself. A man was able to sell the family farm, take all the money for himself, and leave his wife and children behind with nothing.
